Rotaquest 2026

On 18th May, all the Rotary Clubs of Jamshepdur jointly hosted the Rotaquest 2026 - an Inter Rotaract Quiz Competition at DBMS College of Education, Kadma. 10 Rotaract Clubs with over 60 Rotaractors participated in this event. The program was anchored by Ms Anjali Ganeshan of DBMS Career Academy. The quiz was conducted by Quizmaster Ms. Sangita Lahiri and assisted by Rtn. Dr. V. Murali. Chief Guest of the event was PDG Rtn. Pratim Banerjee with PDG Rtn. R Bharat and AG Rtn Kusum Thakur being the Guests of Honour. The event was also attended by Pres. Rtn. Dr. Renuka Choudhary from Rotary Femina, Pres. Rtn. Ashok Jha from Rotary Jamshedpur West along with Rtn. Dr. B. Chandrashekar, Rtn. Vinita Jha, PP Rtn. Anjani Nidhi, Pres Elect Rtn. Cancer Screening Camp at Bahragora

From 11th-15th May’26, Mobile Cancer Screening Camps were held at Bahragora. The van is part of a Global Grant Project by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West amounting to 89,206$. The camp was organised by Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital and the operational expenses amounting to Rs 1,61,500/- was sponsored by Tata Steel Foundation. A total of 135 beneficiaries were screened over the course of the 5 days day for Oral/Breast / Cervical Cancer.

Cancer Screening Awareness Program at Bahragora

From 11th-14th May’26, a Mobile Cancer Screening Camp was held at Bahragora. The van is part of a Global Grant Project by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West amounting to 89,206$. An awareness session regarding Cancer Screening was conducted by doctors from MTMH. Toal 20 beneficiaries were present for the awareness session per day over a period of 4 days wherein the importance of screening was explained to all the health care workers present for the session.

Rejuvenation of Existing Pond at Bodam

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West has planned rejuvenation of existing pond at Bodam of size 60ft x 60ft x 15ft roughly. Total cost of project is estimated to be 2.75 lakh out of which 1.15 lakh has to be contributed by club (with 1.015 lakh generated from the Endowment Fund interest of PP Rtn. Rajendra Sachdeva) and the rest approximately 1.60 lakh will be sponsored by IMPCA Services Ltd, managed by Rtn. Dr Bikrant Tiwary. Execution of the project will be done by a 3rd party NGO - Adivasi Welfare Organisation.

Project Positive Health Camp at Icchapur

On 17th May’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Project Positive Health Camp Icchapur Mandir Tola in Adityapur. Total 105 people got their body weight, height, blood pressure and sugar checked at the camp. Physician Dr. Ajay Kumar did free health check up for all the people present and medicines were distributed to the needy as prescribed by the physician. Sec. Rtn. Naman Agarwal was present at the camp. The medicines were sponsored by Rtn. Kamal Gupta. Total cost of the project is Rs. 4080/-

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West is running a school for toddlers at Murgaguttu Village. Classes are held everyday, except for weekends. A total of 37 toddlers have currently enrolled in the school. There are 3 teachers employed by the school. The salary of the teachers, amounting to Rs 10,350 per month, is borne by by Rtn. Dr. Bikrant Tiwary’s organisation aadivasi.org. This month classes were held from 1st to 30th Apr’26, a total of 22 days this month.

Daily mid-day meal at Chimti Toddlers School

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West in association with Shirdi Sai Charitable Trust is organising daily mid-day meals for all the toddlers in our toddler school, “Masti ki Paathshala” in Chimti Village. Healthy, nutritious were provided to all the 47 toddlers attending the school everyday from 1st Apr to 30th Apr’26, excepting Sunday and other festival holidays this month. The grocery is generously sponsored by Shirdi Sai Charitable Trust whereas the salary of the cook and other miscellaneous expenses are being sponsored by our club.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West is running a school for toddlers “Masti Ki Paathshaala” in Chimti Village. Classes are held everyday, except for Sundays. A total of 47 toddlers have currently enrolled in the school. The salary of the teacher, amounting to Rs 2000 per month, is sponsored by our club. From time to time, school bags, notebooks, pencils etc are sponsored by the members of our club as and when the requirement arises from the school. This month, classes were held 22 days of the month from 1st to 30th Apr’26.

Project Positive Health & Eye Camp at Murgaguttu

On 19th April’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Project Positive Health Camp and Eye Check up Camp at our toddler’s school premises in Murgaguttu Village. Total 42 people got their body weight, height, blood pressure and sugar checked at the camp and 23 people got their eyes checked by the team from Purnima Netralaya. Physician Dr. Ajay Kumar did free health check up for all the villagers present and medicines distribution was also done free of cost. First Lady Rtn. Vinita Jha, Rtn. Sanjeev Sehgal and Rtn. Dhruv Agarwal were present at the camp. The medicines were sponsored by Rtn. Kamal Gupta.

Total 100 people got their body weight, height, blood pressure and sugar checked at the camp and 63 people got their eyes checked by the team from Purnima Netralaya. President Sec Rtn. Naman Agarwal and Rtn. Sanjeev Sehgal were present at the camp. The total cost of the camp is Rs 15,400/- out of which the cost for OPD by Purnima Netralaya, amounting to Rs 12,600/- was sponsored by Discovery Diagnostics.

Inauguration of Computer Lab & Library

On 18th March’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organised an inauguration ceremony of its newly constructed computer lab and library at Bharati Madhya Vidyalaya, Kadma by DG Rtn. Namrata. Earlier on 6th Sep25, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West had signed an MoU with the school authorities for adoption of the school under its Happy School Project. The club had already spent around Rs 5,75,000/- in the 1st phase of renovation which was completed on 10th December’26. For the 2nd phase of development, Rs 5,96,000 was spent, sponsored by M/s Kyocera Precision Tools, on a computer lab equipped with 6 computers, smart classes facility, projector and screen. The library has 5 almirahs for storage of books and more than 800 books have been kept. The inauguration was done by DG Rtn. Namrata and attended by AG Rtn. Kusum Thakur and 15 other Rotarians from our club.

Community Lunch at Chimti Village

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organised a community lunch for all the 185 villagers in our adopted Chimti Village. The village was part of the Official Club Visit by DG Rtn. Namrata. Poori, aloo and bananas were distributed to all the villagers present. The lunch was made at our Toddler’s School in Chimti village. The girls from the school welcomed the DG with a classical local dance. AG Rtn. Kusum Thakur, President Rtn. Ashok Jha along with 14 other Rotarians from our club were part of this event. A total amount of Rs 6,400/- was spent by the club for this event.

Thalassemia Awareness & Screening Camp at Kukru

On 10th March’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Thalassemia Awareness & Screening Camp at Jharkhand Balika Avashiya Vidyalaya, Kukru, Chandil. The program is sponsored by JCAPCL and is executed in association with NGO - Kolhan Manavadhikar Sangathan. A total of 103 beneficiaries benefitted from this awareness session. Students were educated about Thalassemia, its causes, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. The session aimed to dispel myths, promote awareness, and encourage regular health check-ups. After the awareness session, all the students were screened for Thalassemia.

On 10th Mar’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West along with Interact Club of Tinplate Union Inter Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized an Anemia Checkup Camp at Tinplate Union Inter Mahila Mahavidyalaya School, Tinplate. A total of 82 beneficiaries at the gurudwara were checked for anemia out of which 38 were found to be anemic. The anemic patients were given 3 month of free medicine. On 8th Mar’26 on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West conducted a Safe Motherhood & Anaemia Awareness Session at Kadma Petrol Pump situated in Bhatia Basti. The informative talk was given by Rtn. Dr. Swati Singhal. 35 mothers and children from the nearby bastis had attended and benefitted from this awareness session. The camp was attended by 5 Rotarians from our club including President Rtn. Ashok Jha, Rtn. Vinita Jha, Rt. Sp. Dr Sunetra Gandhi, Rtn. Dr. Swati Singhal, Rtn. Amrit Shah and Rtn. Kamal Gupta. All the women were also distributed protein powders for free.

Fund-raising Golf Tournament

On 8th Mar’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West jointly along with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City organised a Golf tournament - Rotary Jamshedpur Open : Swing for a Cause for the purpose of raising funds for Divyajyoti Netraheen Sansthan School for the visually impaired. Over 94 golfers participated in this tournament. Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Sri Arjun Munda was the Chief Guest and even took part in the tournament. The funds will be used for the operational and infrastructure expenses of the school. The prize distribution ceremony was held later in the evening at Beldih Club. Rs 6,26,481 surplus was generated by this fund-raiser after deducting the expenses amounting to Rs 6,65,519.

Due to a conflict situation in Chimti Pahadia village, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West’s toddler school project came to a complete standstill from January, with classes suspended entirely. On 20th Feb’26, the Director - Peace Building & Conflict Resolution, Rtn. Anjani Nidhi, along with Project Chair Rtn. J. B. Singh, Treasurer Rtn. Mithlesh Jha, and Club President Rtn. Ashok Jha, held detailed one-to-one discussions with the school management, villagers, and children. As a result of these sustained efforts, the school was revived within 48 hours. Classes have resumed, and the children are now happily engaged in studies, play, and the mid-day meal programme.

On 22nd Feb’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Project Positive Health Camp and Eye Check up Camp at Kadma Petrol Pump. Total 102 people got their body weight, height, blood pressure and sugar checked at the camp along with their eyes. Dr. Ajay Kumar, a physician by profession, was present at the camp and did routine examination of all the people. Medicines were distributed free of cost as per the doctor’s recommendation. 16 patients were detected with cataract who will be treated free of cost by Purnima Netralaya who did the eye check up for all people present. President Rtn. Ashok Jha, Sec Rtn. Naman Agarwal, PP Rtn. Abhijit Mitra and 11 other Rotarians were present at the camp. The medicines were generously sponsored by Rtn. Kamal Gupta.

On 27th Feb’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West with financial support from JCAPCL and technical support from MTMH organised the final dose of Cervical Vaccination camp in Prem Jyoti Prangan, JRD Tata Sports Complex. Total 33 girls who were vaccinated on 1st Sep’25 were administered the final dose and given awareness. On 24th and 25th January’26, Rotary Club of Jamshepdur West organized RYLA 2025-26 at Kerala Public School, Kadma. Over 88 students from Interact Clubs of Beldih Church, Motilal Nehru Public School, Vikas Vidyalaya, Kasidih High School and Kerala Samajam Model School, Golmuri along with their moderators participated in this year’s RYLA. Venue for the 1st day was Kerala Public School, Kadma. Hon Rtn Ujjal Chakraborty was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony followed by 2 intelluctual sessions by Rtn Sujata Mitra on “Health is Wealth” and “Being Hollow” by RD Rtn Sharat Chandran. After this began the inter school competitions for Solo Singing, Group Singing, Skit and Group Dance which brought out the competitive and collective spirit of RYLA to the fore. Day 2 began with a field trip to Mud and Meadows Resort at Paharbhanga courtesy to our fellow Rtn Dr Bikrant Tiwary who had generously offered his venue.

On 4th January’26, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West installed and inaugurated a community toilet comprising of 2 male toilets, 2 female toilets and a common wash area for the benefit of over 185 villagers in our adopted Chimti village. The cancer van was procured by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West and handed over to Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital on 7th Dec25, who is their operating partner. Facility and Equipment Information provided in the van : 1. Mammography for Breast Cancer Screening, 2. Pap Smear facility and Colposcope for Cervical Cancer detection and treatment of suspicious lesion, 3. Oral Scan for detection of oral cancer, 4. Audio-visual set-up for cancer awareness sessions. The van will be manned by MTMH staff- Data Entry Operator, Radiographer, Nurse, Medical Officer for conducting the camps. Present Tie-up is with RSB and Tata Steel Foundation for ground mobilisation and help in the camps.

On 10th Dec’25, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organised an inauguration ceremony at Bharati Madhya Vidyalaya, Kadma. Earlier on 6th Sep25, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West had signed an MoU with the school authorities for adoption of the school under its Happy School Project. In the 1st Phase of its adoption, painting and denting of the entire school building and the classes was done along with repair of the toilets and the drinking water areas at a total expenditure of Rs 5,75,000 most of which was donated by the Krishna Murari Trust. Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Krishna Murari Gupta from Krishna Murari Trust and Guests of Honour were PDG Rtn. Pratim Banerjee and AG Rtn. Kusum Thakur. In the next phase, a library and a computer class is being planned for the school which is expected to further uplift the school.

On 25h Nov’25, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Domestic Violence and Digital Crime Awareness Session at Tinplate Union Girls Inter College, Golmuri. Advocate Mrs Kanchan Mishra enlightened students of Class XII-XII about their rights, including protection against domestic violence, cyberbullying, and safe online practices. She also discussed the consequences of sharing personal photos and videos on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. 160 students and teachers attended the program along with 4 Rotarians - President Rtn. On 18th November’25, Rtn. Dr. Sujata Mitra conducted a Cervical Awareness Vaccination program at Andhra Bhakti Sri Ram Mandiram, Bistupur. The event was graced by Mrs. Shailaja Sunder Ramam of AIWC and President Rtn. Ashok Jha of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, who also shared insights on the collective initiatives being undertaken to safeguard women’s health.Around 40 students and parents, including the Principal and Secretary of the school, attended the session. Participants gained valuable awareness about cervical cancer, its prevention, and the availability of HPV vaccination for girls aged 9 to 14 years. Counselling for parents has been completed, and once consent forms are signed, a vaccination camp will be organized at the school as the next step in this important initiative.

All the Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur came together in a remarkable display of unity and purpose to celebrate World Polio Day 2025.A Polio Awareness Walkathon was organized on 2nd Nov’25 with the enthusiastic participation of over 250 Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors. Participants walked from the Rotary Clock Tower – Voltas Building – Rotary Clock Tower, covering approximately 3 km in 45 minutes, celebrating India’s success in becoming polio-free while spreading awareness to ensure continued vigilance against the disease. 15 Rotarians and 29 Interactors from our sponsored clubs attended the walkathon.

Daily classes at Chimti Toddlers School

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West is running a school for toddlers “Masti Ki Paathshaala” in Chimti Village. Classes are held everyday, except for Sundays. A total of 41 toddlers have currently enrolled in the school. The salary of the teacher, amounting to Rs2000 per month, is sponsored by our club. From time to time, school bags, notebooks, pencils etc are sponsored by the members of our club as and when the requirement arises from the school.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West in association with Shirdi Sai Charitable Trust is organising daily mid-day meals for all the toddlers in our toddler school, “Masti ki Paathshala” in Chimti Village. Healthy, nutritious were provided to all the 41 toddlers attending the school everyday from 13th September to 20th September, excepting Sunday. The grocery is generously sponsored by Shirdi Sai Charitable Trust whereas the salary of the cook and other miscellaneous expenses are being sponsored by our club.

On 9th Sep’25, Rtn. Anupama Sehgal from Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized Food Distribution at Palna Ghar which is a day creche particularly dedicated to the care of children of women employed as labourers at construction sites and other informal sectors.The children were 2 loaves of bread, 2 kg sugar, and 4 litres of milk and chocopie chocolates. The above food was sponsored by Rtn. Anupama Sehgal and Rtn. Dr. Neelam Sinha.

Project Postive Health and Dental Camp at Deeksha

On 21st September, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a Project Positive Health - Know your Numbers and Dental check-up camp at Deeksha Centre, Sonari. Total 35 beneficiaries. Dr. Ajay Kumar (physician) and Rt Sp Dr Salaka Kumari (dentist) did check up of all the people present. Body weight, height, sugar and blood pressure was checked and medicines were distributed accordingly. 6 Rotarians, 1 Rotary Spouse and 1 Club Guest and prospective member were present for the camp.

Rotary Branding Bicycles - Grameen Premier League

On 12th & 13th Sep’25 Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized the Grameen Premier League, a football tournament in Chardungri Football Ground, near Pagda village in Patamda. The tournament was held over a period of 2 days and the trophies and the prizes were sponsored by President Rtn. Ashok Jha and Rtn Mithilesh Jha in the memory of their father Late M.N Jha. A total of 8 teams of under-25 boys and 4 teams of under-18 girls from local villages competed against each other. Chief Guest for the Day 1 was PDG Rtn. Sanjeev Thakur. For the Final Day, DG Namrata and AG Rtn. Kusum Thakur honored us with their presence. A total of 10 cycles were handed over to the best individual players over the course of the tournament. Mr. Rohit from the Tata Football Academy was also present on both the days to scout for potential players. Grameen Premier League is slated to be held every year for the young footballers in the tribal areas nearby.

Prem Chand Jayanti with our Interact Clubs

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, in collaboration with the literary organization Sahyog, celebrated Prem Mahotsav on the occasion of Premchand Jayanti on the 2nd of August’2025. A drama competition was organized, in the auditorium of Motilal Nehru Public School and featured theatrical performances based on Premchands stories by 11 prestigious schools from the city. The chief guest, senior artist Mrs. Krishna Sinha, was captivated by the performances and praised the organisers for fostering an interest in literature among the younger generation. The panel of judges included Mr. Hari Mittal, Dinkar Sharma, and Sudha Goyal. The winners were honored with awards in memory of Dr. Veena Rani Srivastava. The Prabha Samman was given to the best actor and best actress, while the Vaidushyamani Dr. Veena Rani Srivastava Samman was presented for the best play. All participants received a certificate and a memento from the Sahyog multilingual literary organization.
